6 Ways to Use OpenAI and ChatGPT for Lead Generation in 2023

Forget spending $$$’s on AI tools like Jasper, OpenAI is FREE and here are 6 ways you can use OpenAI & ChatGPT for Lead Generation.

I know you’ve all been hearing a lot about ChatGPT for lead generation lately.

The hype is real.

AI is currently open source and we’re seeing a ton of applications with OpenAI and ChatGPT, all for FREE.

In fact, ChatGPT reached over a million users in just its first day.

That’s crazy, right?

For comparison, it took Facebook 10 months and Instagram 2.5 months to reach that many users.

Now, I know some folks are saying that ChatGPT could potentially replace copywriters and the work we do as lead gens.

But don’t worry, your job is safe.

The truth is, you can’t rely on AI tools if you don’t have a solid foundation of knowledge in your niche.

ChatGPT may sound confident in its answers, but sometimes it’s just plain wrong.

Take for example a scenario where you’re generating leads for a solar client and you want to create a lead magnet.

ChatGPT probably won’t be able to provide you with those specific postcodes to target or give you the information you need to convert clients.

It’s likely that it’s output will be quite generic and lacking nuance.

This is because ChatGPT is trained on information up to 2021, and even when it does catch up, you’ll still need to verify what it gives you.

And who do you think you’ll have to turn to in order to do that?

An expert, of course.

But as long as you know that, you can still use ChatGPT for lead generation to make your agency more efficient and combat writer’s block.

Watch the video to see my 6 ways to use ChatGPT for lead generation.

#1 SEO keywords with ChatGPT for Lead Generation

If you’ve been in the lead gen game for a while, you know that it can be tough to come up with new and creative keyword ideas to boost your SEO.

Google Trends is a great place to start, as it’ll give you the data you need to make informed decisions.

But here’s the thing: ChatGPT can also help you brainstorm some keywords that you might not have thought of on your own.

I tried it out myself by prompting ChatGPT to “Generate 5 keywords for lead generation” and here’s what it gave me:

  1. Lead Capture
  2. Cold Calling
  3. Inbound Marketing
  4. Content Marketing
  5. Conversion rate optimization

So, you can take those keywords and plug them into Google Trends to see which ones might be worth considering based on the data.

Give it a shot and see what you come up with!

#2 DALL-E for Lead Generation Ads

Are you running ads for lead generation and on the hunt for some cool images?

Facebook’s got a lot of royalty-free images on their database, but if you really want to up your game, you should check out DALL-E on OpenAI.

Now, I’ll admit, when I first tested this out about 6 months ago, it was still pretty rough around the edges.

It’s come a long way since then.
In fact, just to give you an idea of how far it’s come, here’s an example of a prompt I put into DALL-E and what it came up with:

“Sad family on the sofa looking at their bills in illustration style with light colors”

DALL-E might not give you a perfect image right off the bat, but it can still give you a basic style to work with.

And if you’re handy with Illustrator or Photoshop, you can clean up any “messy bits” that the AI might have created and end up with a pretty darn good image without getting a graphic designer in for a couple hundred dollars.

Make a list of some famous artists you’d like to copy the style of if you want to make better prompts for your ads.

Let’s get into my next tip on OpenAI and ChatGPT for lead generation.

#3 Ad Copy With ChatGPT for Lead Generation

If you’ve seen my B2B Facebook lead ads training, you’ll know how important it is to nail the first 3 lines of your Facebook ads and the variations!

If you’re stumped for ideas when it comes to writing variations of those first 3 lines, you can hop on to ChatGPT and ask it to rewrite them for you, as many versions as you’d like.

Here’s the prompt I gave ChatGPT for lead generation:

“Write 10 Facebook Ads about “Agency Owners struggling to land clients with Facebook ads” which is offering them a guide on “Our free b2b fugly ads & simple funnel swipe file””

ChatGPT came up with:

“We have the perfect guide for agency owners who need help with Facebook Ads! Get our FREE B2B Fugly Ads & simple Funnel Swipe File and start seeing results now!”

But it doesn’t just stop there.

ChatGPT remembers your conversation.

If you want to give those more of a flair, ask ChatGPT to rewrite them again and make it sound more “clickbaity”.

There’s endless possibilities with prompts when it comes to rewriting your ads with ChatGPT for lead generation.

#4 OpenAI & ChatGPT for Video Scripts

This is an awesome tip if you’re running Youtube Ads and struggling with copy.

Just give ChatGPT the subject of your video and any other info you need in your script, it will do the heavy lifting.

You’ll end up with a home run of an opening, a smooth transition to tie everything together, a solution and a call to action, written for you.

It actually came up with one of the hooks we use in our scripts (freaky!).

#5 Email Marketing With ChatGPT for Lead Generation

If you’re all about email marketing like us, you know that building a strong connection with your prospects is key.

And what better way to do that than with a good analogy or story?

With ChatGPT for lead generation, you can invent some seriously specific stories that’ll help your prospects get to know, like, and trust you.

I wouldn’t recommend using these without tweaking them a bit for your audience, but it can generate some great foundations for a story.

#6 Facts and Statistics

ChatGPT has a bit of a catch when it comes to stats, as I mentioned – it’s only been trained on data up until 2021.

That being said, if you’re looking for references from books or websites on past studies, ChatGPT can still be useful for lead generation.

Ask it to find some interesting stats on debt and provide references and it might give you some ideas you haven’t thought of before.

While you’ll want to double-check any information you get from ChatGPT with more recent sources, it’s still worth giving it a try as a starting point for your research.
