Thinking outside the box is something we are told to do anytime we are struggling with ideas.
It can be difficult to find new ways to do things.
It can also be kinda scary sometimes too.
But thinking outside the box helps you to come up with new bold ideas to try out.
It may not always work, but it is ALWAYS worth a shot.
What happens when people don’t start thinking outside the box…
I find it frustrating watching people in the lead gen space always doing the same thing.
They want new and better ads.
So what do they do?
Reverse Engineer the market.
This is always a great start.
Recreating successful ads tends to do well in the short-term.
But tend to die off after a little while.
Why?
Because everyone is doing the same thing.
It’s time to start thinking outside the box.
Otherwise, you are doing the same thing over and over again, whilst expecting a different outcome every time.
“A must-read for any agency owner who wants to learn the most profitable agency model in existence.”
Chris Von Wilpert, Content Mavericks
My daughter, for example, has been so clumsy all her life.
She’s always bumping into corners of tables, falls over stairs, you name it, she’s done it!
The other day she even stepped in dog poo.
She will only stop bumping into everything once she starts changing her ways and stepping a little more to the side than she’s used to.
That’s the same advice I want to give you.
It’s time to step to the side and try something new.
You don’t want to be wasting your time.
The next steps to take…
You want to start thinking of ideas which will work for longer than a matter of weeks.
Get ahead of the market rather than just copying what others are doing.
The lead gen space is very competitive.
Consider what other ideas you can go after.
You don’t have to look at the end product necessarily.
This would be selling something that the person has already got, such as a mortgage.
Move up the awareness cycle.
Think about the type of prospect you want to target.
Start targeting people in a more broad market.
Thinking outside the box will help you to open up the market.
Get into the mind of the prospect.
Find new ideas, new hooks/angles, target different people.
Take that step to the side and start thinking outside the box.
It may be new territory, but it’ll help your agency grow.
I hope this helps you to take a new approach to think of new ideas.
If you’re looking to take a big step to the side by moving to PPL and fire your retainer clients, and just work with a few PPL clients, I’ve got you covered.
