Hey there, it's Dan Wardrope here from Flexxable.

Another quick useful tip if you're running traffic on YouTube, okay?

We've noticed this and it can cause you to lose quite a bit of cash if you're not careful, all right?

So if you are building a campaign out, and this might seem obvious to some but trust me, we made this mistake as well.

Let's say you're building a campaign out and you've got a target CPA setting inside your YouTube campaign of say 40 bucks and you wanna generate the leads for 20.

Everything's good there.

The next thing that we usually do when we're starting out is we wanna find what audience and ad combination works.

So we'll start with two or three ads and we'll start with five audiences, five different ads groups inside of that campaign.

And what we've found is that we made the decision, and this was a bad decision, to put a broad ad group inside of that campaign.

So basically we would have a broad ad group as one of the audiences and we would have an in-market, we would have some customer intent, some customer affinity and maybe a keyword type audience.

And the reason why we did this is 'cause over at Facebook land, we'd been able to do that for so long and then set a budget limit.

So it spends a certain amount in each ad group.

But what happens in YouTube is you don't have that luxury, well, it's not easy to do that.

So it's kind of not like Facebook, which means that when you turn the campaign on, 80% of the spend is always going to go to broad.

It's just the easiest place to sap up your money.

And sometimes it might work but in most cases, you're trying to find an audience that does better than the broad campaign.

So if you are going to test broad, make sure you do it on its own and break that broad campaign down into age brackets and start your other audience off separately.

It's a little tip.

It might save you some cash.
